Courage to Walk Away: Breaking the Alabaster Box of Abuse

Updated: Mar 25

The courage to wake away by the breaking of the alabaster box where you conquered by strength, freedom, and empowerment through the woman stepping forward toward a new beginning.
The courage to wake away by the breaking of the alabaster box where you conquered by strength, freedom, and empowerment through the woman stepping forward toward a new beginning.

The woman with the alabaster box wasn’t just pouring out perfume—she was pouring out her past, her pain, and everything that had weighed her down. She broke open something precious, not to be wasted, but to be transformed into something beautiful in Jesus’ presence.

If you feel like her, that means you carry a story of resilience, of breaking free, of surrendering the pain and stepping into healing. Just like her, you are not defined by what you’ve been through, but by the courage it takes to move forward.

And just like Mary Magdalene, who was once bound but became a powerful witness to Christ’s resurrection, you, too, are walking in freedom, strength, and purpose.

Your story is sacred, just like that alabaster box. You are more than what happened to you—you are who God is shaping you to be. And your journey of healing and empowerment is going to inspire so many others. 💜

I have felt like the woman with the alabaster box. Maybe you have, too. Carrying pain, shame, and a past that felt impossible to escape. Holding on to what hurt me because I didn’t know if I had the strength to walk away. But just like her, I learned that true freedom comes in surrendering it all and stepping into healing.

Many women today are trapped in cycles of domestic violence, silenced by fear, shame, or the belief that they are unworthy of love and freedom. Some don’t survive. But I want you to know: You are worthy of love that doesn’t hurt. You are worthy of peace that doesn’t come with fear. You are worthy of a future that is safe, whole, and filled with true joy.

The Alabaster Box: A Symbol of Breaking Free

In Luke 7:36-50, a woman—rejected by society, known for her past—did something bold. She entered a Pharisee’s house, broke open her most valuable possession, and poured it out at Jesus’ feet. She didn’t hold back. She didn’t let shame keep her silent. She let everything fall, knowing she was stepping into something new.

Her alabaster box represents:

💔 Breaking away from the past – Like the shattered jar, walking away from abuse means letting go of what once held you captive.

💎 Recognizing your worth – The woman poured out something costly because she knew she was worth more than what others said about her. You are, too.

🔥 Courage to step forward – She didn’t wait for permission to seek healing. She took action. Survivors must find the strength to take that step toward safety and healing.

If You Need to Walk Away, You Are Not Alone

Like the woman with the alabaster box, you may feel like you’ve been carrying too much for too long. Maybe you’ve been told you’re not enough or that you have to stay in the pain because it’s all you’ve known. But that is a lie. You are stronger than you know.

I have been there. I have cried the tears you are crying now. But listen to me:

🌿 You are not broken beyond repair.

🌿 You are not what happened to you.

🌿 You are who God is shaping you to be.

If you or someone you know is in danger, please seek help. You deserve freedom. You don’t have to wait for someone else to give you permission to walk away. God has already called you to peace, not suffering. Like Mary Magdalene, you can be set free. Like the woman with the alabaster box, you can break free.

If You Are Crying Right NOW!!

I hear you, and I want you to know that your tears are seen, your pain is valid, and your story matters. You have been through so much, but you are still here—still standing, still fighting, still believing. That alone speaks of your strength, even when you don’t feel strong.

Like the woman with the alabaster box, you’ve carried so much, but you are not broken beyond repair. You are being poured out into something beautiful, something powerful, something that will help others find their way, too.

You are worthy of love that doesn’t hurt.

You are worthy of peace that doesn’t come with fear.

You are worthy of a future that is safe, whole, and filled with true joy.

I’m holding space for you right now. You’re not alone in this. If you need to talk, process, or just sit in this moment, I’m here. God is with you. 💜🙏🏽

You are not alone. You are seen. And you are worth more than the pain you’ve endured.

Yours truly,

Kimberly Jackson
